Hotel Chevalier Screening

Natalie looks pretty rough up close. (I don't like her eyebrows.)

New Darjeeling Limited Promos!!

It has got to be better than the Life Aquatic.

Natalie Portman's in the short film prologue of The Darjeeling Limited

I'm not really a big fan of her, but she looks really cute. She's too hoity toity uptight preachy take me seriously snob for my taste. I like her better when she's not taking herself so seriously like in that SNL skit where she raps. That was tight.

The Darjeeling Limited premiere in Venice

Yay! Of course Owen Wilson (for obvious reasons involving suicide attempts), Natalie Portman (probably saving starving children with AIDs and tetanus or something), and Anjelica Huston (for some reason) were not there. But Bill Murray was! And Adrien Brody's got some serious coke dealer look going on.

Gary Oldman filming The Dark Knight

Okay, I'm actually looking forward to this movie because:
a.) Christian Bale (first and foremost)
b.) GARY MUTHAFUGGIN OLDMAN
c.) Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes. Why wasn't that done earlier!
d.) I still don't know how to respond to Heath Ledger as the Joker

I can't stop with the lists.

Christian Bale at the 3:10 to Yuma premiere

I love the little bump by his eye. And I'm down to see this movie. I watched the original a couple of weeks ago.

New Sweeney Todd photo!

Tim Burton talking to Johnny Depp. I really can't wait!

I hate Bond girl rumors

Daniel Craig's next on screen love conquest could be non-other than Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty.

Shetty, 32, has been described as the 'perfect leading lady' to square up against 007 and it has been reported the Celebrity Big Brother star is about to 'seal the deal'.

Producers of the next flick, Bond 23, are desperately trying to sign her up because she sells out cinemas across Asia.

YEAH THAT'S NICE BOLLYWOOD'S COOL AND ALL BUT LIKE, EVA GREEN FTW. ACTUALLY, WHATEVER, SHE'S TOO GOOD TO BE A BOND GIRL ANYWAY.

Movie trivia!

The Great Gatsby: Originally, Truman Capote was the screenwriter, and his draft included making Nick a homosexual and Jordan Baker a vindictive lesbian. Capote was fired, and Francis Ford Coppola finished his draft in three weeks.

Closer: At the beginning of filming, Natalie Portman gave Julia Roberts a necklace that said "cunt" in honor of their characters' foul mouths. At the end of filming, Julia Roberts gave Natalie Portman a necklace that said "lil' cunt".

American Psycho: To block the three-way sex scene with two prostitutes, Mary Harron and Christian Bale watched x-rated tapes. In her commentary, Herron says Bale made stick-figure drawings of the positions he thought would work best.

The Mummy: During the scene where the people are chanting, the supporting artists began to change what they were chanting from the correct Egyptian phrase, to "Ohwhatanarseyouare" during rehearsals. Before long, they were all chanting it, and did so on the final take. Nobody on the crew noticed during filming, and it therefore remains in the film.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: Originally, Kevin Smith wanted Quentin Tarantino, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman to spoof a Pulp Fiction (1994) sequel where Travolta and Jackson would play Jay and Silent Bob like characters, and Tarantino would play an angry, abusive director, and Uma Thurman would become a self-obsessed actress. All four actors/actresses accepted, but the idea was dropped due to budget and timing constraints.

Velvet Goldmine: When Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor were filming their sex scene, the director cut without letting them know, so the two continued to simulate the act until they realized the trick that had been played on them.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Ian McKellan teased Ian Holm that his old age make-up made him resemble Judi Dench’s mother.

Spice World: Gary Glitter filmed an four-minute cameo appearance as himself but shortly before the film was to be released he was arrested on child porn offenses. The Spice Girls and the production team agreed that his cameo should be deleted from the final print.

Dracula: It is well known that Winona Ryder did not like Gary Oldman and between scenes she avoided him whenever she could. She particularly did not enjoy the scene where Oldman met her in the picture show the first time and comforts her when she is terrorized by a white wolf. She complained that by having to stoop to his level, she was getting "charley horses" and wanted to make the intimate takes as brief as possible.

Sleepy Hollow: Michael Gambon wanted to keep his severed head and send it via proxy to interviews and dinner parties

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: Seymour Cassel has a brief role as Esteban, the friend of Steve Zissou who is eaten by the Jaguar shark. According to Roger Ebert, Cassel once told him in an interview many years previously that he had always wanted to be eaten by a shark in a movie.

Wet Hot American Summer: The owners of Camp Towanda (where the movie was filmed) were told that this was going to be a family comedy. They were mortified when they saw the final cut of the film.

Psycho: After the film's release Alfred Hitchcock received an angry letter from the father of a girl who refused to have a bath after seeing Diaboliques, Les (1955) and now refused to shower after seeing this film. Hitchcock sent a note back simply saying, "Send her to the dry cleaners."

Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Bob Hoskins said that, for two weeks after seeing the movie, his young son wouldn't talk to him. When finally asked why, his son said he couldn't believe his father would work with cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny and not let him meet them.

Yeah, more reasons why Christian Bale is so fucking awesome. And on that note, Gary Oldman is pretty fucking rockin' too. I didn't understand how Winona Ryder could possibly hate Oldman, but I guess it's because she was young at the time he's too intense and kind of insane. Apparently, he kept saying nasty things to her in a low voice to get the proper reaction.

Yeah, intense.

Sweeney Todd update!

Yes, good news!!! It has been pushed to Christmas this year and not January 11th of next year. Yay! And of course, it has Helena Bonham Carter and ALAN RICKMAN.

YES YES YES.

"Top 10 Most Obnoxiously Overquoted Movies"

http://quigs.blogspot.com/2007/08/ten-most-obnoxiously-overquoted-movies.html

I can't believe I haven't yet compiled this list myself. The movies are as follows:

10.) Office Space
9.) Monty Python
8.) Wedding Crashers (I haven't heard this one in a long time. Thank god.)
7.) Anything with Samuel L. Jackson
6.) The 40 Year Old Virgin (DEAR GOD, I KNOW.)
5.) Anchorman (refer to #8.)
4.) The Austin Powers series (This will never go away.)
3.) Borat (I love this: Is your name Sacha Baron Cohen? No? THEN SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH. SO TRUE.)
2.) Napoleon Dynamite (I think This movie could've earned itself a nice little cult following among respectable movie buffs. Instead, thanks to Hot Topic and douchebag teeny boppers, it will forever be known as the film that led to countless beatings on the playgrounds against bandwagon hopping bitches who wore "Vote for Pedro" shirts and would never shut the fuck up about num-chucks and tater tots. sums it up.)
1.) 300

I wonder how The Big Lebowski escaped the list.. no worries, I am guilty for that one.

More on The Ten premiere party or whatever it was

Janeane Garofalo, two guys I don't know who they are, and David Wain!

In any case, Janeane's looking really good. I see that she's lost some weight and got rid of the blonde (the blonde was okay in my book). She's kind of what Amy Winehouse would look like if she was gorgeous. You know.

And here's David Wain singing (sort of) "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls. Oh, those kooky kids!

And the trailer for The Ten:

The movie is ten stories, each inspired by one of the Ten Commandments.

A guy (Adam Brody) who becomes a celebrity after falling out of a plane = "Thou Shalt Worship No God Before Me"

A librarian (Gretchen Mol) who has a sexual awakening in Mexico with a swarthy local (Justin Theroux) = "Thou Shalt not Take the Lord's Name in Vain"

A doctor (Ken Marino) who kills his patient "as a goof" = "Thou Shalt Not Kill"

A police detective (Liev Schreiber) who covets his neighbor's CAT Scan machine = "Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's House"

A mother (Kerri Kenney-Silver) who enlists an Arnold Schwarzenneger impersonator (Oliver Platt) to be a father figure to her children = "Honor Thy Mother and Thy Father"

A prisoner (Rob Corddry) who desires a fellow inmate's "bitch" for his own = "Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Wife"

A woman (Winona Ryder) who falls in love with a ventriloquist's puppet = "Thou Shalt Not Steal"

A Rhinoceros (voice of H. Jon Benjamin) who learns the pitfalls of gossip = "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness"

A husband (A. D. Miles) who skips church with his family to get naked with his friends and listen to Roberta Flack = "Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy"

Jeff Reigert (Paul Rudd) presents all of these stories to the audience, while struggling with his own moral dilemma: having to choose between his beautiful wife (Famke Janssen) and his also beautiful but somewhat younger mistress (Jessica Alba) = "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery"

I love how they say their names in the trailer and yeah, what the fuck at Jessica Alba being in it also. I don't know, it looks pretty good to me because Wet Hot American Summer was amazing. A friend of mine saw it and said it was hilarious. I must see it!

Van Sant all up in the Kool-Aid!!

Nearly 40 years after its original publication, Tom Wolfe's hallucinogenic tome "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" is headed for the bigscreen.

Gus Van Sant is attached to direct, and Lance Black ("Big Love") will write the script. FilmColony's Richard Gladstein is producing, and he's in the process of setting the project with a financier.

The book told the story of a cross-country road trip that "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" author Ken Kesey orchestrated with a group called the Merry Pranksters. Driving in a psychedelically painted bus from California to visit the World's Fair in New York in 1964, Kesey and his band used the trip as a way to turn on those they met to the mind-expanding wonders of LSD.

It's likely Wolfe will not be a major character in the film, which will focus on Kesey and include events that occurred after the road trip.

I can't wait!! Gus Van Sant, don't disappoint me now! Cuz Elephant sucked and Last Days was only okay because Michael Pitt, Asia Argento, and Kim Gordon were in it. Okay.

Johnny Depp returns to Hunter S. Thompson!

Johnny Depp will produce and star in Warner Independent’s adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s autobiographical 1959 book The Rum Diaries. Depp will play Paul Kemp, a freelance newspaper journalist in 1950s Puerto Rico who is surrounded by a group of self-destructive lost souls.

Thompson wrote the novel when he was 22, before he developed his trademark ”gonzo” style of writing. Though written in 1959, Rum Diaries was not published until 1998.

Yay!!!

The Darjeeling Unlimited PROMOS

And here's the trailer for those who haven't yet seen it:

Owen Wilson is basically talking through the whole first half of it, hah. It's got this very Royal Tenenbaums thing going cuz of the whole family reuiniting thing and all. How nice.

GRINDHOUSE ON DVD

Okay, what the fuck, they're not selling them together? Death Proof is going to be released on September 18th and Planet Terror will be released on October 16th. They're gonna have a lot of special features and blah blah blah, BUT for $30 a disc?! FUCK THAT. Why the fuck aren't they selling them together for $30 instead? That's a total fucking rip-off. Oh, right, it's because it didn't make enough money in theaters :'( Whatever, I'm gonna wait until they're going to make a special collector's platinum diamond encrusted edition where I wouldn't have to buy them separately, mm'kay?

XTINA W/THE ROLLING STONES

Christina Aguilera is featured in a documentary to come out September 21st about the career of the Rolling Stones made by the legendary Martin Scorsese.

Sounds pretty sweet. And I like Mz. Dirrty's outfit. SCORCESE!

New additions to Harry Potter?

Naomi Watts, Joseph Fiennes (brother of Ralph Fiennes, who plays Voldemort), and Stuart Townsend will join the Half-Blood Prince cast when filming starts in September. Naomi Watts will play the mother of Draco, Narcissa Malfoy. It is still unknown what roles the other two actors will play.

The whole Naomi Watts thing is just a rumor, but I'm SO DOWN for Stuart Townsend. SO DOWN.
