American Psycho: To block the three-way sex scene with two prostitutes, Mary Harron and Christian Bale watched x-rated tapes. In her commentary, Herron says Bale made stick-figure drawings of the positions he thought would work best.
The Mummy: During the scene where the people are chanting, the supporting artists began to change what they were chanting from the correct Egyptian phrase, to "Ohwhatanarseyouare" during rehearsals. Before long, they were all chanting it, and did so on the final take. Nobody on the crew noticed during filming, and it therefore remains in the film.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: Originally, Kevin Smith wanted Quentin Tarantino, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman to spoof a Pulp Fiction (1994) sequel where Travolta and Jackson would play Jay and Silent Bob like characters, and Tarantino would play an angry, abusive director, and Uma Thurman would become a self-obsessed actress. All four actors/actresses accepted, but the idea was dropped due to budget and timing constraints.
Velvet Goldmine: When Christian Bale and Ewan McGregor were filming their sex scene, the director cut without letting them know, so the two continued to simulate the act until they realized the trick that had been played on them.
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: Ian McKellan teased Ian Holm that his old age make-up made him resemble Judi Dench’s mother.
Spice World: Gary Glitter filmed an four-minute cameo appearance as himself but shortly before the film was to be released he was arrested on child porn offenses. The Spice Girls and the production team agreed that his cameo should be deleted from the final print.
Dracula: It is well known that Winona Ryder did not like Gary Oldman and between scenes she avoided him whenever she could. She particularly did not enjoy the scene where Oldman met her in the picture show the first time and comforts her when she is terrorized by a white wolf. She complained that by having to stoop to his level, she was getting "charley horses" and wanted to make the intimate takes as brief as possible.
Sleepy Hollow: Michael Gambon wanted to keep his severed head and send it via proxy to interviews and dinner parties
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: Seymour Cassel has a brief role as Esteban, the friend of Steve Zissou who is eaten by the Jaguar shark. According to Roger Ebert, Cassel once told him in an interview many years previously that he had always wanted to be eaten by a shark in a movie.
Wet Hot American Summer: The owners of Camp Towanda (where the movie was filmed) were told that this was going to be a family comedy. They were mortified when they saw the final cut of the film.
Psycho: After the film's release Alfred Hitchcock received an angry letter from the father of a girl who refused to have a bath after seeing Diaboliques, Les (1955) and now refused to shower after seeing this film. Hitchcock sent a note back simply saying, "Send her to the dry cleaners."
Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Bob Hoskins said that, for two weeks after seeing the movie, his young son wouldn't talk to him. When finally asked why, his son said he couldn't believe his father would work with cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny and not let him meet them.
Yeah, more reasons why Christian Bale is so fucking awesome. And on that note, Gary Oldman is pretty fucking rockin' too. I didn't understand how Winona Ryder could possibly hate Oldman, but I guess it's because she was young at the time he's too intense and kind of insane. Apparently, he kept saying nasty things to her in a low voice to get the proper reaction.
Yeah, intense.
